Embedding e-Resources from ProQuest in Canvas: Home

Introduction

The Library has acquired different online resources to support teaching and learning.  You may include them in your Canvas course pages for students’ direct online access.

The latest addition to the list is e-resources from ProQuest. You can search for ProQuest contents the Library has subscribed from within Canvas, select them and embed them for direct viewing within Canvas courses and assignments.

This Library Guide will tell you how to perform the set-up to allow your students direct access to the ProQuest content without leaving the Canvas environment or logging in again.

Embed ProQuest content

In the Canvas Rich Content Editor, :

1. Select the text you would like to convert into a document link, for example: the word "document" in the example below. Click on "PQ" button.

2. A frame will open and display the home page of the ProQuest platform.You can perform the keyword search after specifying the scope of search above the search box (for example "Scholarly Journals") or click "11 databases" to find out which databases the Library subscribes to.

3. In the above example, "dance" and "motor" are inputted as search terms. The list of results are displayed as follows:

4.  Click on the record and press "Select this document" to embed it in the "document" in the Canvas Rich Text Editor.

 


 

Student's View

The student can click on the link embedded in "document" and read the ProQuest content..

The document will be open in a new window without having to sign in again.
